Birthday E-mail is the result of a year-long, back-and-forth email exchange between grandson Tin Košir Popovič and his grandmother Manca Košir. Each week, Tin sent her a poem or a stream of thoughts as a heartfelt gesture a year-long birthday gift. Manca replied with her witty, thoughtful responses, occasionally adding her own writing to the conversation.
The book pairs their words with illustrations: Tin’s hand-drawn figure, representing his side of the dialogue, and butterflies — Manca’s favorite — symbolizing her voice. Together, words and visuals form an intimate, poetic portrait of their relationship.
